In a collaborative effort, York Region, the CAA and York Regional Police came together to launch the Safe Cycling Campaign to help motorists and cyclists ride on the road with respect for one another. Held on May 14th in the City of Markham, the three organizations talked about the increase in motorist/cycling incidents and the things that could be done by both sides to increase safety. YRCC was on hand to speak at the event and highlight the efforts by the cycling community to promote safety, including the launch of their new safety guidelines pamphlet. A number of speakers emphasized the new one metre setback law that is expected to come into effect this year. It was a good day for motorists and cyclists alike.
